The birth of Four Twenty-Two

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Let’s start at the begging. Our story begins on a ski trip of four friends (two best friends & one couple). No, that is not where four twenty-two comes from, but it is a nice coincidence, right? All of us with normal everyday jobs, making our way through life. Driven to do the right thing and to feel good about it, we wanted to start a business that it’s not just about making money – we all agreed that we wanted to make our impact on preventing environment pollution, leaving the world a better place for our kids. That’s why we took Earth’s day (April 22nd) as our name, the symbol for our brand’s mission

Sadly, even though still debatable, we cannot be superheroes, but a simple idea was born transforming us into a team (of wannabe superheroes) thriving for a better tomorrow.

The simple idea

“Try to leave the Earth a better place than when you arrived.” – Sidney Sheldon

In today’s world one of the biggest polluters is the fashion industry. Fashion shouldn’t come at the expense of our planet or the future of the next generations. The hope lies in the great new wave of creating “green” products on the market. And voila – our baby (not superhero just yet) idea comes to life. We worked hard on developing the best tights and socks our planet can love.

The birth of the super(hero) tights and socks

“When the solution is simple, God is answering.” – Albert Einstein

We are happy to introduce the first biodegradable tights and socks with antibacterial features and cosmetic effect. We want our consumers to feel comfortable while wearing their tights and socks all day long. Our tights and socks are manufactured by advanced biodegradable yarn which decomposes up to 5 years, or 10 times faster than the rest of tights and socks available on the market at the moment.*

Do you know your impact?

“Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented.” – Barry Commoner

Our consumers are mostly women. The average consumer goes through 20 pairs of tights and socks per year, i.e. an average consumer creates 1 kg of waste pollution(1). Today around 49.6% of the world’s population is female, with a total female population of 3,710,295,643. So, imagine this: if only 1% of them are creating a 1kg waste that brings us to roughly 37 200 tons of waste which decomposes in land fields for decades, sometimes more than 50 years! And the fact is that consumers of tights and socks are way more than 1% of women today. Can you only imagine the impact that we leave on the environment?

We strongly believe that there is a better way. We stand behind a sustainable cause and we welcome you to join us on the way on being conscious consumers.
